INTRODUCING
A Renewable Gem
Most gemstones are non-renewable because they’re limited in supply and take millions of years to form. Pearls, however, are different – they’re organic gems made by living oysters. This makes them the only truly renewable gemstone. A single oyster can create multiple pearls over its lifetime, and it only takes a few years for a pearl to fully form. So, unlike other gems, pearls can be sustainably sourced and replenished.
Eco-Friendly
Pearls are formed naturally beneath the ocean's surface, far from the harmful practices used to mine other gemstones. Unlike other gems, they don’t require extensive digging or destructive processes. Instead, pearls grow within oysters, making them a more eco-friendly choice.
Organic
Real pearls are created by living mollusks over a few years. This natural process involves the oyster coating an irritant with layers of nacre, eventually forming a pearl. Unlike other gemstones, pearls are made by nature itself, making them a true organic gem.
Bio-Degradable
Real pearls are biodegradable, unlike synthetic or imitation pearls made from plastic or other non-biodegradable materials. This means that when real pearls are no longer in use, they naturally decompose, leaving a smaller environmental footprint.
Introducing
Sustainable Farming
Pearls are the only truly sustainable gem, and their creation relies on more than just time and skill—it requires a healthy marine environment. Sustainable pearl farming supports both the oysters and the ecosystems they live in, ensuring pearls are produced in harmony with nature.
Zero-Emmission pearl farming
Our partners prioritize environmentally responsible farming practices, focusing on the long-term health of their oysters and the ocean. By using eco-friendly methods, they minimize their carbon footprint and ensure sustainable pearl production for years to come.
A Greener Future
Sustainable pearl farming not only protects marine ecosystems but can help regenerate them. Through careful farming methods, oysters contribute to the health of the ocean by filtering and purifying the water, helping to restore balance to local marine life.
Empowered Communities
Pearl farming also supports local communities, offering economic opportunities in remote coastal areas. By providing jobs and diversifying incomes, pearl farming helps reduce the reliance on overfishing, contributing to the preservation of marine resources.
Introducing
Ethical Practices
Beauty isn't just about how things look, but how they’re made. We believe in making choices that help improve our world, and we want to empower you to do the same. By tracing every step of our supply chain, we ensure that our creations are not only beautiful but made with conscious care from start to finish.
Conflict-Free
We ensure all our pearls and diamonds are conflict-free, meaning they’re sourced from places where workers are treated fairly and work in safe conditions.
Ethically Sourced
Our pearls come from farms that prioritize fair wages, safe work environments, and eco-friendly practices, helping protect both workers and the planet.
Conscious Practices
Every piece of jewelry is crafted with care, from sourcing to design, ensuring we respect both the people and the environment throughout the process.
Making a Difference
Nishi Cares
Those who care, make sure to share. Our founders Alique and Arka both have a determination to make a meaningful, positive impact. This resulted in the creation of Nishi Cares, a platform on which Nishi Pearls and various organizations partner to create limited-edition pieces whose net-proceeds all go towards a cause.
All the projects initiated under Nishi Cares has the objective of giving greater access to education; being for women newcomers in Canada through our Second Chance project, or for young musicians through the Pearl Accent project.
From sustainable farms to expert hands, every pearl tells a story of care.
